Biliana holds a Diploma in Studio Art (Capilano University), a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts (Concordia University), and a Master of Fine Arts Degree (University of Saskatchewan), as well as over 15 years of experience in working for cultural organizations and developing community partnerships, educational programs and curatorial projects. As the Arts Coordinator at the North Vancouver Community Arts Council, Biliana programmed numerous exhibitions with local and international artists, developed outreach projects and established fundraising strategies for the organization. Most recently, Biliana was the Executive Director at PAVED Arts Media Centre in Saskatoon where she developed curatorial projects and coordinated partnerships which engaged local and national communities. In 2013, Biliana was a recipient of the National Partnership Award from Business for the Arts for her work with the Core Series, a collaborative project between PAVED Arts and the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra.
Biliana most recently served on the Board of Directors for both Access Gallery and the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in Vancouver and is also the founding member of the Sofia Art Residency, an organization whose mandate is to promote dialogue and engagement opportunities between Canadian and Eastern European artists. Biliana maintains an active art practice that incorporates photography, performance, and installation to explore issues of consumerist culture, diaspora, and social identity.
