Proposed Surrey Fraser Docks Direct Transfer Coal Facility

In response to Fraser Surrey Docks application to Port Metro Vancouver to operate a Direct Transfer Coal Facility and concerns raised by local residents and agencies regarding health and environmental issues, the City of New Westminster requested that the Port conduct broad consultation on the proposal in the community. Council also requested that an Open House on the proposal be held in New Westminster in order to provide an accessible location for city residents and stakeholders to receive information on the proposal and have any concerns addressed.  As Fraser Surrey Docks declined this request, the City’s MLA and MPs, in cooperation with the City of New Westminster, held a Town Hall meeting on the proposal on Thursday, May 30th, 2013 at Douglas College.
