The Active Living Guide is the most popular and viewed Parks and Recreation Brochure, sharing seasonal drop-in schedules, lessons, courses, workshops, and events around the city. 

Community Page promotes the services and events of eligible community groups at no cost.

Distribution & Exposure

  • Published online and receives ~20,000 views each quarter.
  • Social media to 43000 follows over 6 platforms.
  • Email newsletters to 5800 contacts.

Eligibility

Community Page is available to 

  • Groups physically located in the City and who primarily serve City residents. 
  • Non-profit social service agencies, arts and culture organizations, or minor sports organizations 

Limit one submission per eligible community group per Active Living Guide issue. Submissions by ineligible organizations, or ineligible submissions, will not be used or followed up upon. SUbmission Guidelines

Two options for submissions are available: text-only submission or graphic-only submission. Please ready the guidelines carefully. If your submission does not meet these guidelines it will not be included. 

Text-Only Submission

The Marketing Team will format your submission for you. No images are included. You will provide:

  • Title (up to 30 characters)
  • Description (up to 250 characters. Include locations, fees, etc. here.)
  • Email Address (optional, must not be personal)
  • Phone Number (optional, must not be personal)
  • Website (optional)

Graphic-Only Submission

Graphics should include all relevant information. They must be:

  • 3.625 in x 1.825 in (1088 px x 563 px)
  • No Bleed
  • 300 ppi
  • JPG, JPEG, or PNG

Please hire a professional graphic designer or submit a text only add if you don't understand these requirements.

  • Community Message Centre Retirement

    Sixth Avenue & McBride Boulevard Display

    Due to the Community Message Centres age, relevancy and significant costs to repair or replace, Council supported the permanent retirement of this sign in 2022.

  • Community Displays in Recreation Facilities

    All materials must be printed and submitted to facility staff.

    Who is eligible to advertise in facilities?

    • City of New Westminster
    • Community groups, i.e. Any New Westminster non-profit social service agency, arts and culture organization, or minor sports association physically located in the City of New Westminster who primarily serve New Westminster residents, and Leaseholders, i.e. individuals or entities that hold a long-term lease agreement (greater than 1 year) to the rights to occupy space inside a Recreation Facility.
    How can they advertise?
    • Space is not guaranteed. Marketing display space is prioritized for City services.
    • Community Information displays are at City Hall, Century House, Moody Park Arena, Queen’s Park Arena, Queensborough Community Centre, and təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic & Community Centre. These include a bulletin board for posters, and displays for 8.5x11in or 5.5x8.5in flyers. 11x17in posters are eligible for display at Queen’s Park Sportsplex and Moody Park Outdoor Pool.
    • No personal information (names, personal addresses, or email addresses) should appear.
    • The requester must leave a printed copy to front desk staff that will later be reviewed by the Facility Manager. If approved and if there is space, staff will post the material.
    • Materials posted without approval will be removed and recycled.
