New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services is one of the longest-serving fire departments in the Province. In our response model, dedicated personnel utilize technology, modern fire suppression methods, emergency medical care, hazardous materials equipment, and technical rescue specialties to serve the community 24 hours a day.
To be fully prepared to respond to emergencies, staff regularly train, update and expand the skills that are required to maintain effective readiness to protect the community.
Each of the three City Fire Halls is equipped with modern firefighting apparatus capable of delivering personnel, water, and equipment to emergency scenes anywhere in the City.
Our Public Safety and Prevention Division promote fire and life safety within the City for residents, business owners, and visitors. Fire Protection Officers along with Fire Suppression personnel ensure that all buildings are compliant with the BC Fire Code. Both are also responsible for and facilitate educational initiatives that are key to preventing fires and eliminating property loss and serious injury.
