2017 High-Rise Symposium
Hosted by the Greater Vancouver Fire Chiefs Association

October 4-5, 2017
Anvil Centre
777 Columbia street, New Westminster, BC

As cities grow and density builds, high-rise buildings are becoming more numerous and common.  Our Symposium aims to educate participants on modern firefighting approaches, prevention strategies and code application as it relates to high-rise structures.

Keynote speakers Curtis Massey and John Miller hold many years of combined firefighting experience. They are experts in disaster planning and knowledge specialty in high-rise structures. Both Curtis and John have traveled the world educating various groups on a number of topics pertaining to high-rise structures and will bring a wealth of knowledge to the Symposium.

In addition to our keynote speakers, the afternoon of day two will introduce a simulated high-rise fire scenario which will be conducted using fire simulation software from Digital Combustion and utilizing Battalion 3 Technologies in Command and Control.  A number of vendor booths will also be available to visit during the course of the two days.

Who Should Attend:

  • From Fire departments, we highly recommend Chief Officers, Training Officers, Fire Prevention Officers/Staff and Fire Protection Engineers.
  • From City departments, we would suggest staff and inspectors from Building, Planning and Engineering attend.
  • Your partners in the building community should also join i.e. developers, sprinkler/stand pipe mechanical contractors, fire alarm designers, and installers.
