Participation Conditions

COVID-19 has led to a number of Provincial requirements and department policies to help ensure your safety when participating in Parks and Recreations services, spaces and/or registered programs. In order to participate in structured free or paid services (i.e. a free drop-in swim at Moody Park Outdoor Pool or a paid registered day camp program) you will need to agree to COVID-19 policies, risk consent and screening needs during the sales process and when participating.

With the following understandings, and in order to participate in New Westminster Parks and Recreation Services, I accept on behalf of myself or my dependents, the following;

  1. By participating in New Westminster Parks and Recreation programs, services and/or visiting your indoor or outdoor spaces, I am at risk of contracting Covid-19, in spite of any precautions taken by me or by New Westminster Parks and Recreation;

  2. Covid-19 is a highly infectious disease and is easily transmitted between people who may or may not show signs of illness; and

  3. Covid-19 can infect people of all ages, regardless of health status, and is potentially fatal.

For your safety and the safety of others, all participants in Parks and Recreation services, programs or spaces must be healthy. To help ensure this, as part of the registration process and daily checks on applicable services, you will be asked:

  1. Do you have any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, loss of smell, headache, muscle aches, fatigue or loss of appetite?

  2. Are you or anyone you are living with either sick or quarantined?

Any person answering yes (on behalf of themselves or a dependent) will not be able to participate and will be required to stay at home. In addition, if any person is exhibiting signs of illness, they will be required to leave any Parks and Recreation service or space. In either case, a refund (as applicable) will be granted. Exclusion: services involving digital participation.
