Tree Sale

To achieve our city-wide tree planting targets by 2030, we need to work with residents to plant 3,300 trees on private land (eventual canopy cover of 22% on private land). We offer a total of 300 trees per year with 150 trees available per sale at a designated location (Ryall Park, City Hall, Westburnco, Grimston Park and Queen’s Park). This approach ensures that the trees are affordable and are distributed equitably over time to meet our 2030 goal.

Select trees based on their height and spread measurements (listed below). These numbers represent the tree’s size at maturity to help you estimate the space needs of your new tree.

Instructions on properly planting a tree.

Please plant the tree at least 2 meters from any City property line. This will ensure that ownership of the tree remains clear throughout the tree’s life. Following a similar guideline for planting distances from adjacent private properties is also recommended.

Please do not plant trees on City property. Tree planting on City property is done by the City staff and takes into consideration existing or planned infrastructure, environmental needs, and neighbourhood characteristics.
