The current City recycling depot located at Sixth Avenue and McBride Boulevard will be closing in February 2020 to accommodate the new aquatics and community centre. New Westminster will be joining Metro Vancouver’s new regional transfer station when it opens in fall 2020.

During the transition period, we will be providing a series of one-day recycling events for the community to drop off recyclables previously accepted at the City depot; additionally, there are several private recycling depots located throughout the city that can take items on included in curbside and multi-family collection. Stay tuned for pop-up recycling event dates.

The new regional transfer facility will provide a convenient one-stop drop for free recyclables and reusables such as beverage containers, books and clothing, electronics, metal, household hazardous waste, yard trimmings, and paid recyclables such as mattresses as well as non-recyclable garbage.
