Remembrance Day Virtual Ceremony

Due to COVID-19 safety measures there will be no public gathering for Remembrance Day in New Westminster for 2020. Working alongside the Royal Canadian Legion and The Royal Westminster Regiment we are pleased to share that we will offer a virtual Remembrance Day ceremony livestream online on Wednesday, November 11 beginning at 10:30 am. For more information and ongoing updates visit: newwestcity.ca/remembranceday.

Anyone wishing to purchase a wreath for the virtual ceremony may contact the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 2 at 604-524-1151 or

WWI New Self-Guided Veterans Walking Tour

While it’s not possible for us to gather in remembrance, there are other ways to come together and commemorate with those close to you. The New Westminster Museum and Archives has compiled a map showing the family homes of 19 New Westminster veterans. In partnership with the New Westminster Heritage Preservation Society, we invite you to take part in a WWI Self-Guided Veterans Walking Tour.

Where: Queen’s Park Neighbourhood
When: Anytime between 9:30 am - 4:30 pm, November 11
