COVID-19 News

Effective immediately, and until further notice, the City of New Westminster has implemented the following permit and inspection protocols to maintain these services, while creating the required social distancing, and limiting person-to-person contact.

Building and Plumbing Inspections are occurring for all project types. Please note that prior to entering a site or building, Inspectors will be asking a series of questions, to confirm that site contacts, trades, owners, and contractors are not showing symptoms of COVID-19 and have not been ordered to isolate by the Public Health Office. Inspectors may also request that the structure be vacated during the inspection, if social distancing cannot be achieved.

In order to apply for a permit, all application documents and drawings are to be sent to . All applications will be given a preliminary review, and once confirmed suitable for submission, Building Staff will work with the applicant to schedule an in-person appointment to submit paper copies of documents and payment of application fees.

City Hall has restricted access to the general public. All inquiries must be by telephone or email. In person meetings, for the submission of paper copies or for the payment of fees will be scheduled by Building Staff, at the request of a permit applicant.
