BUILDING DIVISION NEWS AND UPDATES

ResponSe and Service Delays

Please be advised that residents, applicants and other project stakeholders may experience delays when seeking some City services. We are currently facing a staffing shortage, and some departments are also working through an increased volume of inquiries and/or applications.

All departments are actively recruiting and training new staff to fill the gaps, however it will take time to get up caught up on workloads.

We understand the frustration delays cause. Rest assured, we are working as quickly as possible to overcome these issues and are reprioritizing projects where needed to ensure we are continuing to provide core services. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

COVID-19 Response

Inspectors have resumed inspection of all buildings and structures, including occupied residential buildings. Please note that Inspectors may request that all persons in the vicinity wear masks, that the structure be vacated, or that social distancing measures be maintained, depending on the site situation, and at their discretion.

City Hall is open to the general public, however, due to staff rotations and to ensure that there is a member of staff available to help you, we encourage you to schedule an appointment by submitting an APPOINTMENT REQUEST. All inquiries should be primarily by telephone or email. In person meetings, for the submission of paper copies or for the payment of fees will be scheduled by Building Staff, at the request of a permit applicant.

Refer to our Divisional Bulletin for more information.
