Residents' Associations
Residents’ Associations are independent, volunteer-run community groups that advocate for their neighbourhoods and engage with the City on matters of civic concern. Each Residents’ Association is individually managed; membership is open to all residents within the defined boundary of the neighbourhood and meetings are typically held in public community spaces.
The City recognizes the value of Residents’ Associations in maintaining open communication, seeking collaboration and supporting community belonging. Each year, New Westminster City Council hosts a forum with all Residents’ Associations to share updates and bring matters of concern to the City’s attention. A framework for Residents’ Associations relationship with the City is provided in the Guidelines for Residents’ Associations as approved by New Westminster City Council. Residents’ Associations may apply to the City for an annual community investment of $400 to support administrative costs.
To apply for the annual community investment, create a profile on the New Westminster Community Grants platform and complete the online application form.
Contact your local Residents’ Association for further information.
