    50+ Years

    Century House offers a wide-range of programs, counseling services, special events, activity and social clubs, a food service and executive board.

    Each of these categories offers on-going volunteer opportunities for volunteers who are 50+ years. Please note, our kitchen volunteer positions welcome all adults.

    Food Services - Are you looking to gain work experience in the food service industry? Our  Connections Café serves delicious, hot lunch entrees, fresh bake goods, coffee & tea Monday through Friday. The café is a friendly and welcoming place to volunteer!  What better way to meet some new friends and gain work experience. All training is provided and volunteer shifts are once per week for 3 - 4  hours. Positions include:  cashiers, food prep and dishwashers. Qualifications:

    • Friendly & outgoing personality
    • A desire to work with the public
    • Has a keen interest in the food industry
    • Be able to stand for periods of time
    • Police Information Check

    Host Program - Century House Hosts meet and greet all our customers and help them with directions, service information and making everyone feel welcomed.

    Office Volunteers - Customer service at its highest level. If you enjoy a busy, fast paced volunteer assignment, this is the position for you.

    Activity Committees - Century House has over 50 activity groups that are run by volunteers. Example categories include leisure, education and social activities.

    Senior Peer Counselors - Trained senior volunteers provide one-to-one support for people 50+ in New Westminster area.

    ESL Conversation Class Tutors - Volunteers assist newcomer students with English conversation through individual and group tutoring.

    Income Tax - Volunteers assist Century House Members with filing their income taxes.

    Special Events - Craft sale and thrift sale, senior festival, holiday decorating and more. Volunteers help with all areas of special events from set up, take down, activity stations, greeters, refreshment service, etc.

  • Parks and Recreation offers a variety of programs and services supported by volunteers assisting with program delivery, instruction, activities, parking, way-finding, greeting, Petting Farm and more.

  • Parks and Recreation has many volunteer opportunities with our many special events such as Easter In Queen's Park, Canada Day, Family Day, etc. Roles include prep & wrap as well as supporting activities, crafts, registrations, food services and more.

  • New Westminster Youth Services offers a variety of on-going and specialty programs, services, out-trips, dances and special events. Rewarding volunteer positions, for those 13+ years, are offered on an on-going basis and service credits are eligible for high school students.

    Upon receipt of your application, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you (by email or phone) to set up an  interview and start the volunteer screening process to ensure safe meaningful volunteer engagement.

    5. Orientation and Training
    6. Support and Supervision
    7. Follow up and Feedback

    Upon completion of the volunteer application process, you will receive emails announcing upcoming volunteer opportunities. Simply respond to the email to sign up for volunteer opportunities that interest you.
