Century House offers a wide-range of programs, counseling services, special events, activity and social clubs, a food service and executive board.
Each of these categories offers on-going volunteer opportunities for volunteers who are 50+ years. Please note, our kitchen volunteer positions welcome all adults.
Volunteer Application Process
Food Services - Are you looking to gain work experience in the food service industry? Our Connections Café serves delicious, hot lunch entrees, fresh bake goods, coffee & tea Monday through Friday. The café is a friendly and welcoming place to volunteer! What better way to meet some new friends and gain work experience. All training is provided and volunteer shifts are once per week for 3 - 4 hours. Positions include: cashiers, food prep and dishwashers. Qualifications:
- Friendly & outgoing personality
- A desire to work with the public
- Has a keen interest in the food industry
- Be able to stand for periods of time
- Police Information Check
Host Program - Century House Hosts meet and greet all our customers and help them with directions, service information and making everyone feel welcomed.
Office Volunteers - Customer service at its highest level. If you enjoy a busy, fast paced volunteer assignment, this is the position for you.
Activity Committees - Century House has over 50 activity groups that are run by volunteers. Example categories include leisure, education and social activities.
Senior Peer Counselors - Trained senior volunteers provide one-to-one support for people 50+ in New Westminster area.
ESL Conversation Class Tutors - Volunteers assist newcomer students with English conversation through individual and group tutoring.
Income Tax - Volunteers assist Century House Members with filing their income taxes.
Special Events - Craft sale and thrift sale, senior festival, holiday decorating and more. Volunteers help with all areas of special events from set up, take down, activity stations, greeters, refreshment service, etc.
