BACKGROUND

Following thorough project consultation and third-party testing, it has been determined that Queen’s Park Artificial Turf has come to the end of its lifecycle and requires replacement. This project is aimed to provide a range of benefits from turf field safety improvements, enhanced performance and maintenance cost efficiency.

Hours of Work

Construction Start Date:

The start date has been pushed back by the contractor to Wednesday, July 23.

Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 8:00 pm

Construction may also be required
Saturdays and Sundays, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Please note: A portion of the on-street parking south of the field will be closed to allow for construction vehicle parking until the work is completed.

The City thanks residents and visitors for their patience throughout the construction process.

Regular updates will be provided through our official communication channels, and we are committed to minimizing any inconvenience during the construction period.

Benefits of Artificial Turf Replacement:

Improved Safety: Over time, artificial turf can become worn resulting in uneven surfaces and exposed seams. Replacing it with new turf ensures a safe playing environment, reducing the risk of injury.

Enhanced Performance: New turf often features advancements in technology, providing better shock absorption, traction, and ball response. This can lead to improved athletic performance and a more enjoyable playing experience for users.

Durability: New turf typically comes with improved durability and longevity, capacity of withstanding heave use and harsh weather conditions. This reduces the frequency of maintenance costs over time.

Line Markings: As part of the turf replacement, the City has consulted with soccer, lacrosse, and slo-pitch/baseball groups to review and update field markings to better meet their needs.
