New Westminster Museum Summer Weekends
Make your summer weekends unforgettable with family fun at two of New Westminster's historic sites! Join the New Westminster Museum every Saturday at Irving House for hands-on activities, outdoor adventures, and garden exploration. Then, head to the Samson V Maritime Museum every Sunday to discover the Fraser River's rich history through engaging activities aboard this iconic sternwheeler.
With a different theme each week, there's always something new to explore. Join us all summer long for discovery, creativity, and family fun!

Victorian Book Club (14+ years)
Every two months, discuss literature with other enthusiasts while sipping tea in Grandmother’s Room. Read literary works by the Brontës, Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, Oscar Wilde, H. G. Wells, Joseph Conrad, Henry James, Mark Twain and more.

Fraser Cemetery Preservation Project (All Ages)
Spend time outside connecting to nature and your community by helping to preserve the City’s grave markers. Under the guidance of museum staff, local groups and individuals will learn about the cemetery and clean gravestones using best practices. Please meet at the main office.

Homes, Hangouts, and Hidden Histories: Carnarvon Street Walking Tour (14+ years)
Join heritage staff for a walk down Carnarvon Street. Discover duels fought over historic women, stand at the edge of the great fire, imagine New West’s historic Chinatowns, and recognize where institutions changed this place forever. Registration required.

RiverFest on Samson V (All Ages)
Celebrate British Columbia and World Rivers Day with a festival that honours the Fraser River. Tour the last steam-powered sternwheeler in B.C. and learn about the different parts of the vessel through a fun scavenger hunt and engaging activities for the whole family. In collaboration with RiverFest organizers Fraser River Discovery Centre and Global Container Terminals.

Floodlines Exhibition Opening (All Ages)
Join the New Westminster Museum and Archives as we celebrate the opening of Floodlines, a new exhibition exploring the city's relationship with flooding, past, present, and future. Enjoy opening remarks, light refreshments, hands-on activities, and the opportunity to be among the first to experience the exhibition.

Halloween Fun at the Museum (All Ages)
Dress up in your Halloween best, grab a flashlight, and explore the Museum by candlelight. Become a ghost hunter on a spooky mission to save the Museum from the playful ghosts that have taken over its galleries. Search high and low to find them all, then claim a special Halloween treat at the end of your ghostly adventure! Guardian supervision required.
