Background
The Queen's Park Bandshell is a single-story wood frame structure constructed in 1969, and serves as an open-air theatre with seating area. A condition assessment has categorized the Bandshell at the end of its service life and removal is required to ensure the safety for all park users.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Why is the roof being removed? After a routine inspection of the facility, the roof is no longer in safe condition for the public. The condition assessment of the bandshell concluded the upright structure and roof is well beyond it’s life cycle and removal is required to ensure the safety for all park users.
- Will a new roof be built? Not immediately. After demolition, further reviews into the feasibility of adding a new structure to the existing platform will take place. We understand that a roof is desired for performers, however public safety is our primary concern. Phase 2 of the project will include the feasibility of a shade structure that is appropriate for the stage and will support users.
- What is included in the cost? Phase 1 project demolition includes the engineer plan for a safe removal and disposal of the roofing materials and upright structure, protection of the adjacent mature trees, and light remediation of the remaining stage and surrounding area to ensure the safety of park users.
