Fairs, Markets & Festivals
The City of New Westminster is home to a number of seasonal fairs, markets, and festivals. Our staff supports the City’s Special Events team by reviewing and raising concerns of potential fire and emergency response challenges that need to be addressed in the planning phase. The safety of an event is a priority and requires the commitment of all who are involved. The Community Vendor Fire Safety Declaration is a document for vendors and organizers to acknowledge their commitment to operating a safe event.

Food trucks
We had a great turn out for the 2026 Lower Mainland Food Truck Fire Inspection Event that took place in Burnaby on April 1st and Langley on April 16th. Fire inspectors from the participating agencies collectively inspected over 150 food trucks over both days!
This annual event takes place every April for new and renewing food truck decal applications. Food truck inspections will not be conducted outside of the event except for extenuating circumstances. Please contact our Fire Prevention Office at 604 519 1004 or email if you have any questions.
