Crises Response Outreach Team

About the team

As part of the Crises Response Pilot Project (CRPP) the City of New Westminster has established the Crises Response Outreach Team. (CRT Outreach)

The goal of CRT Outreach is to proactively and reactively offer support to priority populations, including to those who are experiencing homelessness, mental health and substance use. They can also connect people through referrals to provincial teams, as well as to faith-based and not-for-profit partners in the community.

CRT Outreach champions the needs of Indigenous people with living experience, and the team works to identify how the City could provide a culturally safe and trauma-informed response.

Hours of Operation:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, excluding holidays.

When do I call CRT Outreach?

Please reach out if/when:
  • You see someone who may need help connecting to resources in the community, including food or shelter.
  • Someone needs assistance connecting to a faith-based or not-for-profit or provincial partner in the community.
  • Someone needs assistance obtaining identification, like a BCID.

What is the difference between CRT Outreach and the Community Liaison Officer Program?

CRT Outreach takes a person-centred approach and focuses on providing support and connections to those who have living experience of the three crises: homelessness, mental health and substance use.

The Community Liaison Officer Program (CLOs) is meant to address some of the other impacts from the three crises: as an example, a blocked doorway, or helping with a report of a tent or similar structure in the community. They can also receive reports of biohazards in the community.
