2022 Local Government Election

Election results will begin to be received after 8:00 pm on October 15.
The next election for Council and School Board will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2022. New Westminster voters will elect:
- 1 Mayor
- 6 Councillors
- 7 School Trustees for School District 40
The Mayor, Councillors, and Trustees will serve a four year term from November 2022 to November 2026.
All candidate meetings will be listed here as the Elections Office is notified of them.
New for 2022!
Updated September 7, 2022
- Residents and Non-resident property electors can vote by mail for the first time
- High school students who are 16 or 17 can pre-register as voters by adding their name to the Future Voters List
- Read the changes to the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act (LECFA) for the 2022 Municipal Election
- Campaign Signs must now be smaller. Section 11.6 of the City's Sign Bylaw was changed in 2020 to decrease the allowable size of election signs. Campaign Signs can be set up after 4pm on September 19.
Vehicle signs, including car wraps, are not permitted under the Sign Bylaw.
