City of New Westminster reaches new collective agreement with firefighters
New Westminster, BC – The City of New Westminster has reached a new collective agreement with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 256. The agreement, ratified on December 2, 2014, expires in 2019.
“We had productive discussions and mutual gains were accomplished on both sides of the table,” says Tim Armstrong, Fire Chief. “The extended term of the new agreement allows us to achieve some structural efficiencies while still keeping wage increases in line with neighbouring municipalities.”
The new collective agreement includes a 2.5% annual wage increase for each year of the contract.
