On June 29, 2021 Dr. Henry provided an update that the Provinces Step 3 Restart Plan will be in effect July 1st. Step 3 allows for the reduction or elimination of many COVID-19 safety requirements, which in turn, will allow Parks and Recreation to increase its service levels and reduce safety requirements. Here is a summary of some key changes and we will provide further updates as available:
Masking – the wearing of masks is recommended in all public indoor settings for everyone 12 and over that is not fully immunized.
Drop-In Visits – unscheduled visits to parks and recreations facilities and services will soon be allowed.
Memberships – memberships sales and use will soon be reactivated.
Rentals – remaining restrictions are based on the type, size and location of the rental, and need in some situations, for a Communicable Disease Guidelines and plans. In general, indoor rentals will accommodate 50 participants or 50% of the room occupancy limit, whichever is greater. Outdoor rentals will not be subject to participant limits.
Registered Programs – our summer programs are already scheduled, however, we may be able to add more programs or increase the number of participants with existing programs. We will provide further updates as available.
Spectators – spectators will be allowed but may be limited for indoor settings.
Food and Concession Services – normal service delivery will soon resume in applicable parks and recreation facilities.
Sports and Activities – normal service levels will soon resume.
The start of Step 3 is very exciting and Parks and Recreation is working as fast as it can to plan, prepare and increase our service levels. Please be patience as we do the planning, secure and schedule staff and update our websites. Our restart will be gradual with the understanding that we will offer as much as we can as quickly as we can. Finally, we also need to develop a Communicable Disease Guideline and Plan that will meet WorkSafe standards, and then integrate these guidelines into our service delivery.
Thank you.
