What does belonging feel like? Who makes you feel seen, safe, or part of something? Where do you feel at home?

 

Join us for a cozy open mic night inviting community members to explore and share their own experiences of belonging however you define it. Whether through spoken word, personal story, poetry, or song, all are welcome to speak, listen, and be part of an inclusive, caring space.

 

This event is part of the Communities Building Belonging Will You Be My Neighbour initiative, a national project supported by the Tamarack Institute and hosted locally by the New Westminster Homelessness Coalition Society. Our New West working group brings together community advocates, neighbours, and organizations who believe everyone has a right to feel included, valued, and connected in the place they live.

 

Our goal is simple but powerful: to create intentional opportunities that strengthen connection and foster belonging across differences. This open mic is one of many grassroots actions we’re taking to spark conversation and build community—one story, one moment, one neighbour at a time.

 

Whether you share or simply listen, you’re part of the conversation. Everyone is welcome.
