Kick off National Accessibility Week in red carpet style! The fourth annual Down Syndrome Film Festival will showcase four films created by and starring members of BC’s Down syndrome community, including short films Tim, Work in Progress: Employment for People with Down Syndrome, and Unified Voices, plus full-length feature King Arthur’s Night.
Tickets can be purchased for the morning (short films), the afternoon (King Arthur’s Night), or the full day.
An audience Q&A with some of the creators and performers will follow both the morning and afternoon screenings.
King Arthur’s Night (2025) Directed by John Bolton
A genre-defying documentary film, directed by John Bolton of Opus 59 Films, inspired by a medieval musical play created by an amazing company of artists living with and without Down syndrome, including award-winning playwrights Niall McNeil and Marcus Youssef; visionary director James Long; and iconic musician Veda Hille. Think: “The Green Knight” meets “Crip Camp”, but with songs.
Unified Voices (2026) Directed by Moses Latigo Odida
Unified Voices is a documentary film exploring the lives of Canadians with Down syndrome like never before, as we take you across this vast country to tell the stories of our community.
Tim (2025) Directed by Jordan Findlay
Tim Sackbauer is a skier hailing from Vail, Colorado who was also born with Down syndrome. Introduced to the mountains by his family, a tight-knit bunch with skiing in their DNA, he learns to carve his own path and rise above expectations. Taking to the slopes, he finds a refuge for expression, solace, and a way to navigate the complicated world around him.
Work in Progress: Employment for People with Down Syndrome (2026) Directed by Matthew Hoos
Work in Progress follows the employment journeys of four adults with Down syndrome seeking to put their skills to work in a meaningful way. We also meet several employers committed to diversity and representation in their workforce, who have discovered that hiring people with Down syndrome isn’t just charity – it’s good for business.
