How do I book to come to Moody Park Outdoor Pool?
You will need to have an account for the City of New Westminster’s Parks and Recreation online registration. By clicking on to the online registration on our homepage, it will prompt you to set up an account if you do not already have one. If you have any questions, please call 604-526-4281 and staff can assist you with either a registration or setting up your account so that you can book online with ease. All patrons must be pre-registered to attend a swim.
Can I show up to Moody Park Outdoor Pool without a reservation?
All patrons wanting to attend Mood Park Pool MUST have a reservation prior to the swim starting in order to attend the swim. Registration can be done by calling 604-526-4281 or registering online. There are no waitlist or standby options available.
What happens if I need to cancel my reservation?
Call 604- 526-4281 to cancel your reservation. There is a 24 hour cancelation policy. If you are not able to attend please let us know so we can fill that space with someone else.
What happens if I want to transfer my reservation to a new time?
We are able to transfer you to a new reservation service or time that is on the same day as your current reservation. Notice of transfer must be given at least 1 hour prior to your current reservation. If all reservations are full transferring will not be an option. Transfers are only available to the client who is currently registered in the reserved drop-in.
Why is the swim only 1 hour?
This is in order to accommodate as much of the community as possible as this summer we are operating at reduced capacity.
What are the reserved drop-in options at Moody Park Pool?
Shallow End Leisure Swim - The booking includes the use of the tot area and shallow areas of the pool up until the start of the deep end lane section
Lane Swim - The booking is one 25-metre deep-water lane for swimming lengths, exercising or water running only. One person per single lane.
Leisure Swim – The booking includes the use of the tot area, shallow area and the deep end. Rock climbing wall will be available during selected days and times. There are NO lanes during this time.
Can I swim in a different area from what I booked?
No. Patrons are expected to stay within the area that they booked.
What measures are in place to keep me safe?
We have carefully calculated the number of people allowed into the facility to ensure physical distancing. We have enhanced our cleaning procedures throughout the facility. Our re-opening plan has been approved by public health.
Can COVID-19 be transferred through water?
There is no evidence that SARS-CoV-2 can survive in pools that are properly monitored and treated with the use of chlorine. The pool is electronically and manually monitored for appropriate chemical treatment.
Will City of New Westminster be enforcing physical distancing in and around the facility?
Markers and directional arrows will be placed around the pool. To ensure a 2m distance is maintained between the different groups.
What is the cost?
Admissions Monday to Friday are $2 per person for ages 4 years and older. Admission is free on weekends. Aquafit classes have an admission fee of $5.60, 15-64 years and $4.00 for those 65+ years
What happens if it is raining?
All swims and Aquafit will run rain or shine. We will not cancel swims due to the rain. Your swim reservation time will not be rescheduled due to rain.
When will we be allowed into the facility?
You will not be allowed into the facility prior to the start of your swim. Please arrive between 5-15 minutes early only.
What happens if I am late?
The doors remain open throughout the swim time block. If you arrive late, your swim time will not be extended and check-in will still be required. If you miss your swim booking, you will forfeit the booking.
Can we use the change rooms?
There is very limited change room and shower availability. Change rooms are only open for 15 minutes after your swim time block ends. Please come prepared in your swimming attire prior to entering the facility and plan to go home to shower and change after the swim.
Are there lockers available to lock up my stuff?
No the lockers will not be available to use. You will have a designated spot on the deck that contains a personal belongings bin. Please do not bring valuables with you to the swim. Please note deck chairs are not provided.
What equipment will be available?
Limited kickboards, water running belts, mats and toys will be available. You may bring your own equipment.
Will the water fountains be open? Can I bring food?
Bring water! Water fountains will not be available. Food is not allowed on the deck and must be eaten outside of the pool area.
Can I book for my children but not come with them?
Yes. Anyone 7 years of age or older may swim on their own. We strongly recommend that any child that is not a strong swimmer have a parent or guardian present and they stay within arms’ reach. All patrons entering the facility are required to be registered and pay before entering. You are welcome to watch from outside the fence if you are not registered to come in.
Can I go out and in from the facility?
No. There will be no in and out privileges.
