824 Agnes Street Park Design and Off-Leash Dog Area Relocation

824 Agnes Street Park

The property at 824 Agnes Street was gifted to the City by the Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA). This site was the focal point of the Chinese community in New Westminster and was the location of the Chinese ‘Old Man’s Home’, built in 1905.

In 2016, as part of Chinese Reconciliation Process, there was overwhelming support for a community park at this location which would commemorate Chinese history and contributions as well as to provide a public green space in the densely populated Downtown neighbourhood.

The new community park will be constructed as part of an adjacent high-rise development at 810 Agnes Street. For more information about the 810 Agnes Street development, see link below: https://www.beheardnewwest.ca/810-agnes-st
