After 89 years of service, the Pattullo Bridge is now permanently closed to all vehicle traffic.

All four lanes on the new stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge opened to traffic beginning on February 14, 2026.

Removal of the Pattullo Bridge is scheduled to begin in late February with the removal of a section of the Pattullo Bridge over Columbia Street and the construction of the new Columbia on-ramp and E. Columbia multi-use path overpass. This work requires the following traffic changes:

  1. Closure of the existing Columbia Street loop-ramp to the Pattullo Bridge – starting Saturday, February 14.
  2. Columbia Street between 6th and Elliot will remain open for local traffic and access to all businesses on Columbia Street and Front Street Mews will be maintained at all times.

Please visit the project website for more information.

The Pattullo Bridge is a key connection between the communities of Surrey and New Westminster. The new toll-free four-lane bridge will provide important improvements for everyone using the bridge, including people who are driving, cycling or walking, as well as communities on either side of the bridge.
