Presence of bed bugs detected at New Westminster Public Library

New Westminster, BC – New Westminster Public Library was closed to the public today while library staff dealt with the presence of bed bugs at the facility.

Late Monday afternoon, staff discovered evidence of bed bugs in several books in a small area of the library collection. Earlier today (Tuesday), library staff met with pest control experts to address the issue. Pest control personnel will be on site until the problem has been resolved.

Library staff have remained at work and have been available to answer phone queries from the public. We apologize that this situation has caused inconvenience to library users. We will re-open to the public as soon as it has been determined that the problem has been eliminated.
