City of New Westminster invites residents to reconnect with their waterfront at Pier 2 Landing

New Westminster – The City of New Westminster will host a celebration of its waterfront on June 19 from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Pier 2 Landing which will take place on Father’s Day, includes activities and performances along Westminster Pier Park, Front Street, and Sapperton Landing Park.

“Our vision for the waterfront includes a seamless connection of both neighbourhoods and parks, in which visitors and resident will find exciting public spaces and engaging public art,” said Mayor Jonathan X. Coté. “With Front Street being closed to traffic, we saw this as the perfect opportunity to invite the community to the waterfront and envision what a seamlessly connected waterfront would look like.”

City of New Westminster staff will be on hand at the event to engage residents about the Waterfront Vision that will celebrate New Westminster’s strengths - its natural setting, vibrant downtown and year-round activities.

Other family-friendly activities include: Live entertainment, barbecue, bike decorating, sandcastle building, community art projects, Live5210 Playbox, a pop-up museum, historical and environmental walking tours, Paper Girl art program, cycling tours, and a bike rodeo.
