New Westminster — The City of New Westminster is thrilled to announce that Amazon has donated $10,000 to its New Media Gallery in support of STEAM programming. New Media Gallery directors Sarah Joyce and Gordon Duggan were presented the cheque outside of the gallery an Anvil Centre on Wednesday, March 20th by Amazon representatives.
“We’re grateful to Amazon for recognizing the important contributions that the New Media Gallery makes to its community,” said Acting Mayor Patrick Johnstone. “I’m excited to see how this investment will support and enhance STEAM programming as the New Media Gallery continues to pave the way for innovative arts and technology education for our children.”
New Media Gallery was recently chosen by Amazon for the donation after a vetting process to distinguish worthy projects that support childhood learning and school programming.
“A sincere thank you to Amazon for supporting unique arts + technology STEAM programming for our community’s children,” said Gordon Duggan, Executive Director of New Media Gallery. “Your generous donation will be used to purchase innovative and well-researched technologies and materials for the Learning Lab and will have a significant impact on enhancing the quality of future childhood programming at NMG.”
The New Media Gallery is one of the most visited galleries in the Lower Mainland, with local, national, and international following. Besides being known for presenting new media art and artists from around the world in world-class exhibitions, they are dedicated to providing exciting STEAM workshops for the community, teaching critical thinking in a space where arts and technology meet.
