New Westminster – New Westminster residents are invited to a special livestream forum on community COVID-19 vaccination on Thursday, April 8. The City of New Westminster and Fraser Health will provide information on local vaccination plans, as well as an update on ongoing community response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are excited to be entering a new phase in the battle against COVID-19,” said Mayor Jonathan Coté. “The end is in sight, but we must all continue to do our part to limit further spread of the virus. This forum will help residents know what to expect in the weeks and months ahead as community vaccination begins to ramp up.”
The forum coincides with the opening of an additional community vaccination clinic at Anvil Centre, which is scheduled to begin immunizations on April 7. The clinic is supported by Fraser Health, the City of New Westminster and Ceres Terminals Canada. Clinic attendance is by appointment only, which must be arranged through Fraser Health. Due to limited parking and upcoming roadworks in Anvil Centre area, clinic attendees are encouraged to use transit or other alternative transportation to get there.
“COVID-19 vaccines are now available for our friends, neighbours and family members through B.C.’s age-based rollout. We encourage everyone to sign up for a vaccine appointment as soon as they are eligible,” said Dr. Ingrid Tyler, Fraser Health executive medical director and medical health officer, Population and Public Health.
The livestream forum will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.
Residents can view the meeting live at: https://ca01web.zoom.us/j/65858223120). Participants will be able to submit questions during the livestream or can send questions in advance by email to: . For those unable to watch the livestream, the forum video will be available for later viewing on the City’s website.
The livestream forum marks the re-launch of the New West Matters conversation series. Over the coming months, New West Matters will deliver a series of livestream events and other activities to provide further opportunities for local residents to interact with the City of New Westminster and its elected officials. Watch for more announcements on the New West Matters series in the near future.
