June is Recreation and Parks Month

Recreation and Parks Month promotes the benefits of a healthy and vibrant community! New Westminster embraces this opportunity to promote a variety of programs, events, parks, and facilities.

Rest and relax by the river as we celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of Westminster Pier Park. Sit down with friends, family, and neighbors for a picnic on the lawn, crafts, activities, and treats from the concession. Enter giveaways as you wait for the outdoor movie to begin.

Public Roller Skating (All Ages)

Swap out your ice skates and strap on your roller skates and continue your weekly skating. Enjoy roller skating on a smooth controlled surface. Our leader will be on hand for extra assistance and to organize activities during this program.

Community Events

Throughout 2022, the City of New Westminster will host and support a variety of community events taking place in neighbourhoods across the city, all with a focus of bringing the community together.

Tots on Wheels (0 - 5 years)

Give your toddler an opportunity to practice riding their tricycle, bicycle, stride bike, rollerblades, or scooter in a safe controlled environment. Our leader will be on hand for extra assistance and to set up obstacle courses.

Family Seed Paper Workshop (7 - 12 years)

Learn about growing healthy foods while having fun! Create your own seed paper to plant. Choose between kale and arugula seeds. Registration and parent participation is required.

PRETEEN AND YOUTH (11 - 18 years)

A weekly virtual program to engage in structured conversation and connect with seniors from Century House. For those who crave social interaction but not quite comfortable being out in public yet, have mobility challenges, are new to the community and would like to establish some connections, or who simply enjoy the comradery and company that coffee break provides.

All the Lonely People

Join us for the Canadian Premiere of All the Lonely People. Brought to you by the creators of critically acclaimed Gen Silent, their new film about loneliness highlights stories of resilience in the face of social isolation. Through these stories we learn how people are overcoming social isolation, what professionals are saying, and how communities are responding to this prevalent social issue. Panel discussion featuring the filmmaker and special guests to follow. Presented in partnership with Century House Association and Massey Theatre.

Cycle and Yoga (14+ years)

An all-levels class that combines a variety of indoor cycling intervals and drills to give you a non-impact cardio workout for 30 -4 0 minutes, followed by 20 - 30 minutes of yoga. Bring your yoga mat.
