As New Westminster continues to grow, demand for parks, recreation spaces, and community facilities is increasing. Park space per person has declined, and existing amenities are under pressure. This Plan provides a clear, long-term roadmap to address current access to parks and recreation today while planning ahead for future growth.
The Plan will guide how parks, facilities, programs, and services evolve through 2035, with a long-term vision to 2050. It focuses on creating more inclusive, accessible spaces that support health and wellbeing, strengthen community connections, and ensure all residents have opportunities to play, connect, and enjoy nature.
Shaped by more than 3,000 community touchpoints and informed by technical analysis, the Plan reflects both community priorities and long-term planning for a healthy, connected, and resilient city.
The Plan will be implemented over time, with projects phased based on priority, funding, and growth. The City will continue to share updates as projects move forward and will report on progress to ensure transparency and accountability.
