Grand Opening: Westminster Pier Park Westward Expansion
August 5, 2026
3:00 pm
8:00 pm
Westminster Pier Park (West End, nearest Quayside Drive)

Join the City as we welcome you to the newest park feature along the riverfront in Downtown New Westminster with performances, recreational activities, a cold plunge pop-up from Tality Wellness, food trucks, and more! Join representatives from the City, BOSA Developments, Rennie Group, and more as we make it official.

The new westward expansion of Westminster Pier Park is designed around the central plaza with seasonal water jets and a performance stage. The plaza is flanked by two raised lawns and two tiered decks with stunning panoramic views of the Fraser River. The north half of the park, which opened in May, contains “outdoor rooms" with active features, picnic areas, and various seating options. The central multi-use path runs through the park connecting to the Waterfront Esplanade and Westminster Pier Park. A key highlight of the new park is the installation of ‘Ebb and Flow’ by Brent Sparrow and Kelly Cannell, a significant public art piece representing traditional Musqueam Salish markers, placed among ‘log jam’ seating.

  • 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm - join us for activities including:
  • 7:00 pm - remarks and official ribbon cutting
  • 7:15 pm to 8:00pm - musical performance by rising country music artist Danielle Ryan

Afterward, join the City for the first Movie in the Park event on the Festival Lawn on the east end of Westminster Pier Park for Back to the Future, starting after sunset around 9:00 pm.
