APPLICATIONS FOR RETAIL CANNABIS LOCATIONS
As of December 5, 2018, the application period for the initial intake of applications for retail cannabis locations is closed. Those interested in operating a retail cannabis location within the City of New Westminster are required to receive the necessary City approvals, including rezoning and business licenses. Six Cannabis Retail Location applications have been selected to move forward for additional consideration, as directed by Council following a report on March 11, 2019 and a report on May 27, 2019. The six application recommended to move forward, and their current status, are summarized in the table below.

After completion of the rezoning, there are still a number of steps that the applicant would need to finalize before being permitted to open which may include: completion of the application the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch, renovations to the interior space involving Building and Plumbing Permits, hiring and training staff, ordering stock, and finalizing a business licence.
