Daytime Warming Centres

For the 2025-2026 season the Daytime Warming Centre was located at 658 Clarkson Street (the Union Gospel Mission). This initiative was funded by Health Canada's Emergency Treatment Fund.

Daytime Warming Centres are activated in specific conditions:

  • When temperatures are at or below 2 degrees Celsius
  • There is heavy rain, in combination with low temperatures at or below 2 degrees Celsius
  • There are three or more days or rain creating conditions where it is difficult for people to keep dry
  • There is snow accumulation
  • There are sustained or steady winds of 70 km/h or wind gusts up to 90 km/h that present a risk to those living outdoors

When Daytime Warming Centres are activated, guests can come inside, dry off/get warm, and access resources including showers, washrooms, coffee, drinks, food, and clothing.
