New Westminster’s Fire Protection Bylaw requires an approved, flush mounted lock box at any premises with a fire alarm system or an automatic fire sprinkler system, whether monitored or unmonitored. The lock box must be compatible with Fire and Rescue Services’ keys.
For properties with existing lockboxes:
Please note Supra TRACcess lock boxes have been discontinued by the supplier. Existing Supra TRACcess units are being replaced with approved lock boxes by Fire Prevention Staff.
For properties required to install a lockbox:
Owners of new developments, and owners whose properties have been identified by a Fire Inspector as requiring a lock box, should follow the ordering information in the attachments. Contact Fire and Rescue Services before installation to confirm the approved lock box type and installation requirements.
