New Westminster Police/RCMP Impoundments

If you are planning to pick up a vehicle that has been impounded by the New Westminster Police or the RCMP, you will need to do so during regular office hours as per the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles. If you vehicle was impounded for 30 days or more, please note that you will need to attend a Driver’s Licensing Centre in order to get an order of release prior to picking up your vehicle. If your driver’s license has been suspended, you will need to make sure to bring a licensed driver with you to operate your vehicle. Vehicles cannot be released without a valid driver’s license.

If your vehicle was impounded and you need to access it to retrieve personal belongings (vehicle license plates and parts MUST remain with the vehicle and cannot be removed), you will be required to pay a $100 deposit that will go towards the balance of your vehicle at the end of the impoundment period. The registered owner is the only one able to retrieve belongings.
