City of New Westminster’s CAO receives Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal
New Westminster, BC – City of New Westminster CAO Paul Daminato was awarded with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal at Monday night’s council meeting. The award was presented by Mayor Wayne Wright and is timely, as Daminato will be retiring from his position as CAO in January 2013 after working with the City for nearly 33 years.
“I feel truly honoured and humbled that I was chosen to receive this prestigious award,” said Daminato. “It has been apleasure serving the city these last 30plus years. I’ve had the privilege of workingin a wonderful community with the best staff anyone could ask for and under the dedicated leadership of elected officials, past and present. I’m proud of how far we’ve come as an organization and city.”
During his time as CAO, Paul has seen the city through a period of tremendous change and renewal, spearheading a number of initiatives that have helped revitalize and reshape the city.
“Paul’s leadership and integrity have been an inspiration to staff and his vision has guided us in working together to make our city great,” said Mayor Wright. “We’re all very proud of him – the award is well deserved.”
The citation from the Governor General of Canada reads in part: “I thank you for your dedicated service to your peers, to your community and to Canada. The contributions you have made to our nation are most commendable and deserve our praise and admiration.”
