New Westminster, BC – The City of New Westminster Economic Development Office has launched a new online resource to help businesses access information about the local economy, customers, and competition. The new web tools developed by leading-edge Canadian technology firm, Localintel, provides entrepreneurs and small businesses with up to date information about the local market, including business climate data, industry-specific information, and competition analysis.

“This set of tools allows us to highlight New Westminster’s competitive advantages and share current demographic, geographic and market data that will connect businesses with the community,” said Councillor Bill Harper, Chair of the City of New Westminster’s Economic Advisory Committee.

The interactive tools display a wide-range of relevant market information and data conveniently in one location in an accessible format.  The tools provide the information businesses need to ask the right questions, analyze data correctly, and make better-informed business decisions. The four new Localintel online tools include: workforce evaluation; customer research; business climate; and competition analysis. Users can create a profile and generate customized reports containing all the information they require. The tools complement existing business resources already available on the New Westminster Economic Development webpage.

“We know it can be challenging for new businesses and entrepreneurs to find the right resources and information to build a successful business plan,” said Blair Fryer, Manager of Communications and Economic Development. “We’ve chosen these online tools to meet the needs business owners seeking reliable, locally-relevant information and believe they will be an asset in helping businesses thrive in New Westminster.”

Localintel is a Calgary-based tech startup that harnesses the potential of big data to help communities promote their strengths, share market intelligence, and support local business growth. Localintel was recently awarded the 2017 Innovation Alley Award from the Smart Cities Council.
