New Westminster – New West eateries are owned and operated by your neighbours, and employ hundreds of locals, driving economy and tasty experiences for everyone. Whether you enjoy a satisfying meal on your own, with family or with your bubble this winter, think about how you can support New West eateries while creating memories and unique experiences of your own. And now these restaurants, cafes, bars, and eateries need your support more than ever!

That's why the City of New Westminster, The Downtown New West BIA, Tourism New Westminster and the Uptown Business Association have partnered together to launch the #ReDiscoverNewWest campaign to encourage locals to rediscover the incredible hidden gems that are a part of New Westminster’s burgeoning foodie scene.

“In an effort to support New West’s hundreds of eateries who have been hard hit throughout the pandemic, our organizations have come together to promote the various ways that you can enjoy incredible food within our city this winter,” said Kendra Johnston, Executive Director, Downtown New West BIA.

“New Westminster is small, so it's important that we work together and support each other as much as possible. We're incredibly proud to be collaborating with such fantastic partners to promote all the great places and spaces in New West this winter” said Erin Jeffery, Communications Coordinator, Uptown Business Association.

The #ReDiscoverNewWest campaign will promote food and beverage businesses over the next six weeks with a series of contests, from simply posting online about your favourite hidden gem or thanking a supportive restaurant owner, server or bartender, there will be a new opportunity every week to win a $200 gift card to a New Westminster eatery.

“There are so many places to enjoy a delicious meal in this City,” said Blair Fryer, Manager of Economic Development and Communications for the City of New Westminster. “Our restaurants and eateries are operated by friends and neighbours and they need our support now more than ever. If you’re thinking of trying something new, we encourage everyone to think local.”

Tracy Eyssens, President of Tourism New West says that “New Westminster has so much to offer which provides endless opportunities to explore and experience what is in our own community. Tourism New West is excited to support our local entrepreneurs through #ReDiscoverNewWest and showcase the many delicious options available in this city’s diverse food and beverage scene”.
