Five misting stations have been installed by City staff at Hyack Square (2), Library Square (1), and Westminster Pier Park (2), with more coming to Queensborough soon. The blue posts feature both a mister and a bottle filler, and are a part of the City’s cooling strategy to help keep people cool and hydrated during hot summer months.
"We are pleased to offer new cooling stations that complement the parks and natural areas with mature trees that create cool shade,” said Erika Mashig, Manager Parks & Open Space Planning.
The misting stations will operate annually from May to September, with extensions pending warm weather.
Parks and Open Spaces Planning will be hosting a series of engagement opportunities at:
Westminster Pier Park - Thursday, September 8
Library Square - Thursday, September 15
More information and opportunities for feedback will be available through the Beheardnewwest.ca platform to come April 2023.
