On the evening of Friday, February 13, 2025, a Metro Vancouver water main broke flooding many buildings on Francis Way and Jamieson Court in New Westminster.
Many New Westminster residents are impacted by the flooding. As a City, we want to help support our residents by coordinating with the residents so that power is restored to these buildings, property access is improved, and insurance questions are directed to the appropriate groups. As recovery efforts continue, the City will make best efforts to expedite all permits so that impacted residents can get back to their lives.
Metro Vancouver is supporting the recovery phase and is able to respond to resident’s questions. If residents have questions, they are welcome to reach out to Metro Vancouver at or call their info centre at 604-432-6200.

water main repairs complete
March 18, 2024: "Repairs to the damaged section of the water main have been completed, and the main will be put into service today (March 18). Residents have thus far seen no interruption to their drinking water service and there will be no change when the main goes back online; however they may notice some temporary cloudiness or a chlorine odour — water quality is not affected, and it is still safe to drink."
