The City of New Westminster has been ranked the 5th Most Livable City in Canada by the Globe and Mail, and 2nd among medium-sized cities nationwide.

The rankings evaluated nearly 60 indicators across housing, safety, education, community, amenities, and climate resilience. They are designed to help Canadians identify communities where they can flourish based on their unique needs and circumstances.

This recognition reflects the ongoing work of Council, City staff, community partners, and residents to support livability, belonging, and long-term resilience in New Westminster.
