New Climate Action Dashboard Launches on Earth Day

The City is making climate action more transparent and accessible with the launch of a new online Climate Action Dashboard.

Launched on Earth Day, April 22, the dashboard gives residents a clear and interactive way to explore how we are tracking our Seven Bold Steps for Climate Action goals. The 2026 Earth Day theme, conscious consumption, highlights the importance of informed choices - and this new tool helps residents better understand local progress and where action is making a difference.

In 2019, Council declared a Climate Emergency and adopted the Seven Bold Steps for Climate Action, setting ambitious 10-year targets. In 2021, the City identified 27 progress indicators to measure advancement toward those goals. Since then, staff have been working to track progress, refine data, and improve how information is shared.

Previously, updates were provided through static annual reports. The new dashboard modernizes this approach, offering a real-time, interactive experience that is easier to access, understand, and explore.

Through the dashboard, residents can:

  • Track key climate indicators
  • See where progress is being made
  • Identify areas where more work is needed
  • Learn about current and upcoming projects supporting each of the Bold Steps

This new tool supports the City’s commitment to transparency and helps connect climate action to everyday life in New Westminster. It will continue to evolve over time, with feedback from residents and staff helping to improve the user experience.
