Starting Monday, August 31, a closure of the Front Street Truck Route between Begbie Street and East Columbia Street will be in place for approximately four months to complete construction of a retaining wall along Front Street. This work is part of the Province of BC’s Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project.

Front Street Mews will remain open and access to businesses in downtown New Westminster will be maintained at all times.

While this closure is in effect, trucks will be required to use official truck routes (which exclude Columbia Street at all hours, and Royal Avenue after 9:00 pm). Regular traffic will be detoured to Columbia Street.

An additional closure of the Front Street Truck Route is anticipated to start in spring 2027 for Pattullo Bridge deconstruction over Front Street and the railway lines.
