Grounded in principles of symmetry and geometry, Sandeep Johal’s bold and colourful patterns on the Front Street Mews Barrier Wall are influenced by textile designs and motifs specific to her South Asian heritage.
Sandeep Johal is a Canadian-born South Asian artist living and working in Vancouver, Canada. She holds an honours level Diploma in Fine Arts from Langara College and an Education Degree from the University of British Columbia.
Sandeep Johal believes in the power of art to create awareness about issues related to cultural identity, gender equality and human rights. Her art practice is grounded in principles of symmetry and geometry and is an expression of her social and cultural concerns, particularly gender justice.
