The City of New Westminster's Food Security and Systems Plan (FSSP) Working Group received feedback during development of this plan about the need for culturally preferred foods. 

In response to this, the FSSP Working Group involved is collecting spices for local food banks and food providers. Examples of spices we're looking for include:

• Cumin
• Paprika
• Curry pepper
• Cinnamon
• Ginger
• Coriander

From Thursday, July 9 until Friday, August 28 donations can be dropped off at the following locations during business hours:

• New Westminster City Hall, 511 Royal Avenue
• təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre, 65 E Sixth Avenue
• Queensborough Community Centre, 920 Ewen Avenue
• Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia Street
• Fraser Health Public Health Unit, #218 - 610 Sixth Street
